Hello Kiddo!                                    March 27, 2020

It has been a while, hasn’t it? If you’re like we are, I’m sure you’re going a bit stir crazy by now. We want you to know you are very much missed and we hope that you are staying safe and healthy during this crazy time. We know it is hard to stay home from friends and others you love and care for, but it is truly what is best for everyone to not spread this very contagious virus going around. Just know we are thinking of you and missing you each and every day that passes … hoping things go back to normal as soon as possible!

After doing a couple of weeks’ worth of NTI work with our own kids, we realize the stress and feelings of being overwhelmed at home, especially since we are not there to help and guide you. We also know you have other things going on at home that interfere with learning and can be a bit distracting. It isn’t the best environment for learning to occur that is for sure! With that being said, we wanted to make NTI look different for the next two weeks. We wanted to just focus on one subject per day so that it didn’t seem so overwhelming. We also wanted to try and make your learning more fun and interactive … that was our goal anyway, lol. You will still be using your same materials and you’ll be reviewing skills already taught to you at some point during the year. We hope you find this new format more helpful and it lessens your load.

As far as turning material in for these two weeks, as soon as you complete an assignment, you can take a picture of it and email or text it to your teacher for submission. That way it’s turned in and you can check it off your list. You will turn the assignment in to whomever you would while at school, so if you are in Mrs. Mattingly’s homeroom, but have math with Mrs. Smith, you will turn every assignment in to Mrs. Mattingly’s email or phone number EXCEPT for math you will send to Mrs. Smith. Same will be true for Mrs. Smith’s class! Turn in everything to her email or phone number EXCEPT for social studies, which you’ll send to Mrs. Mattingly. This way we can grade it as you complete it. Question, can you complete work before it is due if you want? Sure! We don’t mind you being proactive and working ahead if you would like to or getting a certain subject completed first because you really like it best. We just wanted to make things as easy on you as possible. Just make sure to get everything completed and turned in to us!

As far as work from the two-weeks prior to Spring Break, you were given that material in a large envelope. You can turn in your Daily 5 packets, common assessment sheets, math pages, social studies work, and writing pieces when they are completed in that envelope by dropping it back off at the school for someone in the office to place in our mailboxes. The office hours are from 9-2:00 during the NTI days where someone will be available. We will then sort through the envelopes to give each other the math and social studies materials. We only ask that one person come in the building and that whomever does come, does not show any signs of sickness for the health of our office staff. If you do not have transportation available, you can hold on to the envelope to turn in at a later time, just please let us know by email or text.

Hopefully this letter clears some things up for you and will make life easier for you over the next two weeks. We miss your face like crazy and can’t wait to get back to school to give you each a big hug and remind you of how much you’re loved and missed. It is times like these we sit and think of how truly blessed we are and how thankful we are to have each other.

                        Much Love,

                        Mrs. Mattingly & Mrs. Smith
