NOTICE OF HEARING ON TAX RATE
The Hancock County Board of Education will hold a public hearing in the HCHS Commons Area on 9-24-20 at 5:30 pm to hear public comments on a proposed general 68.9 cents on real property and 68.9 cents on personal property. THIS RATE REFLECTS NO CHANGE TO THE PRIOR YEAR’S RATE!
The General Fund tax levied in fiscal year 2020 was 68.9 cents on real property and 68.9 cents on personal property and produced revenue of $5,641,205.81. The proposed SAME RATE for General Fund tax rate of 68.9 cents on real property and 68.9 cents on personal property is expected to produce $6,207,962.38. Of this amount $2,268,428.22 is from new and personal property. The compensating tax for 2021 is 68.4 cents on real property and 68.4 cents on personal property and is expected to produce $6,162,911.85.
The general areas to which revenue of $566,756.38 above 2020 revenue is to be allocated are as follows: Cost of collections, $8,501.34; building fund, $558,255.04.
