Parents/Guardians,
This afternoon, Governor Beshear recommended that all KY schools remain closed to in-person classes for the remainder of the school year. Therefore, HCPS will conclude the school year on May 8th under NTI delivery methods. Based on the Social Distancing guidance at the state and federal level, I am sure the decision to cease all in-person classes through May surprises very few.
Any necessary additional guidance on submitting & obtaining NTI work will be forthcoming from each individual school. In addition, students will receive guidance from their school on picking-up and dropping-off any necessary items such as iPads and student's personal belongings that would need to be collected to conclude the school year.
Currently, HCPS feeding program will continue as outlined. Any necessary changes or alterations will be communicated at a later time. All extracurricular and co-curricular school events will remain suspended until additional guidance is provided. This will include activities for the 19-20 school year and any activities scheduled to start this summer for the 20-21 school year.
We understand this is a trying time for all of us and we will continue to respond and act in accordance with the latest and most up-to-date information. I know there will be additional questions and we will work through those with you as we work closely with the guidance of our leaders.
Please continue to practice social distancing and take care of each other during this challenging time. The Hancock County Community is much stronger than this virus! We will get through this together.
Sincerely,
Kyle Estes
Superintendent
