April Butterfly Effect Award

The Butterfly Effect Award

Butterfly Boarder

Congratulations April's Butterfly Effect Award Winner!

GMattingly      Gary Mattingly

"Gary goes above and beyond to help so many!  He truly has been a blessing to the Youth Service Center.  Recently, he volunteered to transport several students to prom when they needed transportation to the event and Mrs. Kessans was not available.  He not only took them to prom but out to eat before! One boy later told Mrs. Kessans that he had the best night of his life and that would not have happened without Officer Mattingly's help! He is always there to help and truly loves his job!  We could not have asked for a better SRO!"--Laura Kessans

Fellow Nominees

Todd Biever

"Mr. Biever will be missed at North Hancock next year.  Mr. Biever teaches in such a way to allow all students to feel good about themselves and be successful.  He is kind and understanding and always friendly. He is so easy to get along with and supports his colleagues.  For years he has worked with the track and cross country teams, he started the elementary academic team program for Hancock County, he started the Mustang running club and the morning walking clubs and works with the NHE arts team to produce a great 5th grade student musical.  HCMS is very lucky to gain such a great teacher and team player."--Anonymous

Susan Ewing

"Susan Ewing has always been a great team player. This year she has decided to help girls who may not be able to afford the luxuries of Prom. She is leading a group to help girls with hair, makeup, and nails! She is a master of the braid (you should see her on spirit days). The school is quite lucky to have her!"--Candace Kruse

Tesha Goodgine

"Tesha has lined our hallways with beautiful artwork she has taught our awesome kids. She takes the time to show them the beauty and wonder of art. The students love her and the amazing talent she shares. Our school would not be what it is without her pretty smiling face!"--Kimi Powers

Josh Powers

"I couldn't list all the reasons Josh deserves this award in a timely manner. The biggest one for me is the relationships he establishes with his students/athletes. He truly puts students first. The second reason is Josh always goes above and beyond, whether it be stepping up and coaching multiple teams at one time or doing anything extra that needs to be done around the school. He is the proverbial "yes man". He is seen at community events, he supports his students, and is a positive role model for them. We are blessed in this county to have him."--Anonymous

Melissa Ruhe

"Melissa Ruhe is truly dedicated to the students at HCMS.  Melissa always goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to our students.  She is always willing to help them to succeed without any reservations.  She will assist students at all times, whether it be before school, after school or during her personal time.  She conducts all of the transition meetings for 5th graders to HCMS.  She ensures the parents and the students both feel good about their child being ready to attend HCMS. She completes all of the tasks with a pleasant demeanor and a smile on her face. She is a vital part of student success at HCMS."--Traci Sanders
