Welcome to the Ellen Meserve Library (the library media center of North Hancock Elementary School) and to the South Hancock Elementary School Library website!

My name is Rebecca Evans, and I am the elementary library media director (librarian) of North Hancock Elementary School and South Hancock Elementary School. I am looking forward to another wonderful school year! 

Students will have library class each week. Part of library class each week is dedicated to giving students time to check out new library books. In order to check out new library books, the students must return their previous library books. Other than checkout, the students will participate in library lessons that are connected to the new Kentucky Academic Standards for Library Media. 

A Little About Me

I was raised in Martinsville, IL, a small rural farming community. My father was a commercial roofing company owner/roofer, and my mother was a nurse. I grew up on a farm, and I was raised in a close-knit family. Upon graduating high school, I attended Indiana State University, where I worked on campus as a student worker at Cunningham Memorial Library, and obtained a degree to teach middle and high school English. When I married, I moved to Owensboro, KY, where I have resided since. I have eight years of teaching experience at the high school level in the state of Kentucky. While teaching English classes at the high school level, I obtained my Master's degree from Western Kentucky University to become a certified library media specialist. This is my eighth year working as an elementary librarian. 

I have an incredible husband: John Evans. He is a machinist.

I am a mother to three dogs: Parker, Jack, and Bessie. 

I love to read, walk, write, travel, attend church, and spend time with my family.
