More Information
In Hancock County Public Schools, we believe it’s all about student successes and that’s why we’re excited about this terrific opportunity for our students. The Hancock County Early College Academy (HCECA) is a program designed to meet the needs of students who excel academically and who possess the personal characteristics needed to successfully attend college earlier than the traditional students. Academy students will enjoy the best of both worlds as they’ll earn college credit while attending classes on a college campus. All of this can be accomplished while still participating in all the extra-curricular activities at their “home” high school. Hancock County is the only district in our area offering this option for high school students.

Here is how it will work. Students from our high school are eligible to apply through a competitive process. Students will be selected for admission by the end of their sophomore year and those who gain admittance will attend classes on the Owensboro Community and Technical College campus. The academic program will be enhanced and rigorous with the educational goal of graduating from high school while simultaneously earning an associate degree.

An informational meeting has been scheduled on Tuesday February 7th, 5 pm in the HCHS Media Center.
