               Margaret Vanover

What does it mean to go Above and Beyond?  It means the willingness to lift others above yourself and take them beyond where they ever thought they might go.  Margaret Vanover exemplifies both of these attitudes.  During her 30+ years with Hancock County Schools Transportation, she has driven multiple routes and delivered many, many students safely to their destination.  Those who have felt her caring and encouragement the most are her vocational students.  Many times Margaret has had food waiting for students when they got back on her bus from vocational school.  Whether it was food she had purchased herself so they'd have a hot meal, or cookies and candy she prepared for all the students on her routes just to brighten their day.  To that point, Ms. Vanover fed more than their stomachs; she fed their spirits with the belief that they could be more and do more.  Margaret shows what is truly on her heart every time she gets behind the wheel:  It's all about the kids.  To simply say she goes above and beyond does not cover her efforts, but nonetheless Hancock County Schools is a better place and a better transportation department because of her diligence, her caring, and her outstanding work ethic.
