ABOVE & BEYOND AWARD

Lacey Mosby          Lacey Mosby          TY

In order to be great, you must realize it’s not what you do for yourself that is most important but rather what you do for others.  This is a message we consistently communicate to our students and staff at North Hancock and no one does more for others than Lacey Mosby.

As our Family Resource Coordinator, Mrs. Mosby has been invaluable to our students, staff, families, and community with her time and dedication.  She has helped students and their families by working to provide necessary financial resources, transportation, food and clothing, and many other basic needs.  However, the greatest resource she provides is a deep compassion for our students and the relationships she builds with students and adults alike.  From helping with homework to making a home visit to assisting with a medical issue to covering an assignment for a staff member, her job description cannot begin to cover all the things she actually does within a day.  Mrs. Mosby is always willing to go above and beyond and we are fortunate and proud to have her as part of our team at North.

Karen Basham truly deserves recognition for her work at Hancock County Middle School over the years.  Mrs. Basham has sponsored FCA for the past six years.  She was a key member of the team that took the FCA to perform at the Kentucky Board of Education Conference.   Ms. Basham works vigorously to teach the students what it takes to be a responsible citizen.   For example Mrs. Basham directs the students on the importance of proper flag etiquette by leading them in raising the school flag each day and lowering it in the afternoons.  Students in her class also lead the school in the pledge daily.  Mrs. Basham initiated the Hancock County Middle School Beta Club in 2016.  The beta club spends countless hours doing volunteer work for various organizations such as the Hancock County Animal Shelter, Hancock County Middle School, South Hancock After School Program and the North Hancock After School Program.  Ms. Basham daily goes beyond the call of duty in pursuing academic excellence in her classroom.  No one is more deserving for the Above and Beyond Award than Karen Basham.  Thank you for your service to the students of HCMS.
